DZG may be quieter in the winter months, but there is still plenty of work going on behind the scenes.
Keepers use the time to carry out the all-important jobs of re-painting animal houses, sweeping up fallen leaves, laying fresh woodchip in animal enclosures and undertaking routine maintenance across the 40-acre site.
And that’s all in addition to the daily feeding and caring for the hundreds of rare and exotic species in the 1,400-strong collection.
DZG painter Mike Grace sets to work on the sealion fencing and
on children’s play equipment at the Farm.
