DZG’s animals get to catch a few extra zzzz’s from today, as the site reverts to its winter opening hours.
During weekdays, visitors will be able to gain entry from 10am until 3pm, with the 40-acre site closing 90 minutes later.
Weekend visitors will still have an extra hour to see their favourite species, as last entrance will remain until 4pm for the next few weeks.
Curator Matt Lewis, said: “We’re coming up to darker evenings, when it drops dusk quite quickly and there are less visitors on site by that time of day.
“During this time we always make sure the animals are safely inside for the night at 5pm, although when it’s dark and cold, by that time they’re ready to come in themselves for their tea and to bed down for the night.”
The shorter hours will remain in place until Easter.
