We’re sticking our necks out to raise awareness of World Giraffe Day and offering one lucky visitor the chance to feed our trio this Sunday!
DZ Conservation Officer Chris Leeson shows off the giraffe ears and tail, while feeding Kubwa!
Throughout Father’s Day, DZ staff will be outside the giraffe paddock armed with a display of biofacts to highlight the dangers these endangered creatures face in the wild and visitors can learn more about the species and the awareness day by checking out an information board in the Discovery Day.
But to raise funds for World Giraffe Day, which falls next week, keepers will be selling raffle tickets to Sunday’s visitors to win a meet and greet with one of our great dads, Kubwa alongside Josie and Kito at 3.30pm that day.
Section Leader, Jay Haywood, said: “This is a great opportunity for visitors to get the chance to learn more and feed our giraffes while raising money for a great cause, which we’re proudly supporting again this year.”
Visitors can also help us raise funds by transforming themselves into giraffes with the help of DZ’s face painters, or purchasing giraffe ears and tail!
World Giraffe Day is raising funds for two giraffe conservation projects one in Kenya and one in Namibia.
