Dozens of youngsters went wild at DZG this summer by joining our academies.
Throughout the last six weeks presenters have been leading a packed programme of events for animal-loving children, aged from eight to 17.
Presenter, Caroline Howard, said: “We’ve been really busy over the holiday season with the Go Wild Adventures, Rangers and Keeper Training Academy.
“The youngsters have all had fun getting hands- on animal experience, as well as finding out what really goes on behind the scenes of a busy zoo.
“They’ve taken part in animal feeds, quizzes and games, studied important conservation issues and worked on enclosure design projects.
“We’ve also made enrichment activities for some of the site’s animal collection, by getting creative with papier mache as well as taking part in veterinary tasks including blow piping a life size cut-out Saola, weighing a guinea pig and reading a microchip in a cuddly orang utan toy.
“Everyone has had a great time and they can’t wait to sign up for next year!”
