DZG joined in the celebrations to launch the Black Country’s largest ever big wheel.
The Free Radio DY Eye has been installed in Stone Street Square in Dudley town centre with DZG partnering local businesses to sponsor the 35-metre high wheel.
At the official opening on Saturday, our Outreach team took along zoo mascot, Gracie the giraffe and a few small critters from the Discovery Centre to meet shoppers, including ferrets, rats, a skink, a snake and cockroaches, as well as painting the faces of visitors and handing out kids go free vouchers.
Marketing Manager, Andrea Hales, said: “We are pleased to lend our support to the DY Eye and we hope people enjoy the ride it gives you fabulous views of Dudley Castle from the top!”
The wheel will remain in the town until Sunday, April 10 and will raise money for Midlands Air Ambulance.
The ride costs £4 for adults and £3 for children (who are under 1.4 metres tall). Family tickets for two adults and two children costs £10.
It can take a maximum of 144 passengers in 24 gondolas and will also be lit up at night.
