We received a lovely letter from a Chester couple who wanted to say Thank You to DZG following their Keeper for the Day.
Simon and Amanda Baker fed, cleaned and cared for giraffes, chimps, hawks, penguins, big cats and lemurs during their experience as they worked behind the scenes across the 40-acre site.
The pair even managed to spot our baby snow leopard before it became famous!
Amanda said: “We shall never, ever forget the experience it was magical and we would recommend it to anyone.
“All the staff were lovely and helpful. They were knowledgeable about their subjects and their enthusiasm and commitment really stood out.”
As a token of their appreciation Simon and Amanda also sent a £250 donation.
Amanda added: “We would like you to accept the donation for your zoo to be used as you think is best.”
DZG CEO Peter Suddock, said: “We can’t thank Simon and Amanda enough for their very generous donation.
“Keeper for a Day was introduced as an experience a few years ago and it has proved so successful we are receiving more and more requests from all over the country, with all money raised through the scheme helping support conservation.
“We are very lucky to have visitors like Simon and Amanda who take an interest in our animal projects and we hope they will return and visit us again soon.”
