Value for money!

A tapir tickle and lion feed topped a DZG day for an animal loving husband and wife from Reading.

Gemma and Kevin Redson took part in a Keeper for a Day experience, as they worked alongside DZG staff and got up close to some of the rarest animals in the world.

Gemma said: “We had an absolutely amazing day! It was brilliant to be able to see behind the scenes and get really up close to the animals.”

Gemma treated her animal-loving husband to the day for Christmas and joined in too when she saw the price for a double experience and the pair spent the day working alongside keepers from the different zoo sections across the 40-acre site, meeting birds, big cats, ungulates and primates.

She added: “It was also great to be accompanied around the zoo with keepers as it felt like a private tour.

“It was obvious they all really enjoyed their job and I think we learnt a lot more, particularly about specific animals, their stories and personalities.”
