Trailer loads of leaves

DZG Gardeners are doing a top job of keeping our walkways leaf-free – picking up two trailer loads of leaves every week.

The team has been clearing fallen leaves from paths and steps around the 40-acre zoo since the end of September and they will be kept busy with the same task until the end of December.

Gardener Anthony Gwilt, pictured above, said: “We have a three tonne trailer on site and we are filling it twice a week.

“Clearing the leaves is always a big job at this time of year and as the trees mature and produce more leaves we have to stay on top of it.

“The leaves we collect are recycled and made into a very fine soil improver.”

Well done team – Keep up the tree-mendous work!
