A Dudley football team has netted a brand new strip thanks to DZG.
The players in the Under 9 Phoenix Football Team are feeling grrrr-eat with their new kit, which has been sponsored by DZG and features the zoo’s distinctive tiger logo on the front.
Under 9 Phoenix Football Team Manager, Ian Stretton, said: “We are absolutely delighted with the sponsorship which has not only allowed us to buy a whole new strip for this season, but also new footballs to train with as well.”
The team, who are part of the Stourbridge and District Youth Football League, train weekly at Milking Bank, but were given the opportunity to have a special training session in the heart of the 11th century Dudley Castle and have a kick about with Zoo Keepers and DZG football team players Jay Haywood and Sam Grove – pictured above.
They even got to meet Black and white ruffed lemur, Broom, who wanted to show off his fancy footwork too!
Ian added: “When the boys found out they were going to be able to train in the castle courtyard with some of the keepers from the zoo football team they were absolutely over the moon and they never thought they would be getting the opportunity to stroke a lemur either. That was a great surprise for them.
“This sponsorship has made a world of difference to the team as the boys have all grown up visiting Dudley Zoo and are really proud to be wearing the logo on their new strip.”
DZG Head of Marketing, Julia Lockett, said: “We are very happy to give the Under 9 Phoenix Football Team our backing for the coming year.
“The strip looks fantastic and I’m sure the team will be a roaring success in their league this season.”
