All eyes will be on Dudley Zoo’s stunning snow leopard Taïga as she turns three today.
The gorgeous female, whose name is a Russian word meaning boreal forest or snow forest, came to us a year and a half ago from Beauval ZooParc in France to pair with our resident male, Margaash.
Senior Keeper Sam Grove said: “Taïga has a really bubbly character and loves being active.
“She’ll be fed by visitors doing a Meet and Greet experience today and we’ll make sure she has some of her favourite treats too.”
There are up to 6,000 snow leopards in the wild, but with continued hunting and habitat loss their species numbers are steadily declining.
