Scent-sational fundraising!

We’re saying a huge THANK YOU to kindhearted pupils at a Dudley primary school who carried out some scent-sational fundraising for our Orangutan Appeal. The crafty seven and eight year-old children in Owls class at Woodsetton School made lavender scented hearts from recycled materials, which they sold for 50p each, during a recent Recycling Day. It’s great to be eight!

We’re sending birthday greetings to our cheeky Bornean orangutan Sprout who’s eight today! The birthday girl received a sack full of tasty treats wrapped in colourful tissue paper for breakfast this morning, but keepers have plenty more fun and games in store for her throughout the day and there’s also going to be orang-friendly cake Continue reading It’s great to be eight!

Halfway there!

We’re halfway to achieving our £800,000 target to build a new orangutan enclosure – but still need your help! Harriet’s hand-picked gifts

A four-year-old girl from Walsall has picked, wrapped and delivered Christmas presents for her two favourite animals at the zoo. Artist aiding orangs

A generous artist is creating limited edition canvasses of DZG’s four orangs to raise funds for our £800,000 outdoor enclosure appeal. And we’re pretty sure orang fans will go ape for the exclusive artwork being donated by David Skidmore, which will be a graphite pencil-drawn montage of Benji, Jorong, Jazz and Sprout. David, from Bromsgrove, Continue reading Artist aiding orangs

Great ape fundraiser

We’re delighted to reveal our Ape Awareness Day pulled in more than £500 to help great apes in the wild and our own at Dudley Zoo. Half the £529.34 raised came from generous zoo supporters who bought key fobs of ape paintings created by four of our chimps. Visitors also took part in raffles to Continue reading Great ape fundraiser

Thanks for the support!

Huge thanks to two zoo members who have collectively raised £640 for our Orangutan Appeal with products made from their fab photos of our animals. Talented amateur photographers, Kathryn Willett and Karen Edwards, made 2018 calendars and drink coasters respectively to raise the funds towards our £800,000 fundraising appeal to build a new separate outdoor Continue reading Thanks for the support!

Jorong's all smiles!

We’re wishing many happy returns to our handsome birthday boy, Jorong, who’s 23 today!
