Swing into summer at DZC!

Swing into summer at Dudley Zoo and Castle as we shine the spotlight on our primate collection.

Throughout the six-week school holiday we’ll be raising awareness about our primates, which range from the smallest pygmy marmosets to our impressive Bornean orangutans.

And we’ll not only be celebrating the first birthdays of baby orangutans, Jim and Joe, but we’ll be marking International Orangutan Day too.

Discover more about our chimpanzees, spider monkeys and capuchins during daily talks and find out how some primate species are fabulous forest gardeners while making your own seed bombs and primate-themed crafts in the Discovery Centre to take home.

There’ll also be a trail of oversized primate heads and tails to follow around the 40-acre site as you pass 200 animal different species along the way, including big cats, mammals, reptiles and birds, as well as the opportunity to take part in interactive installations which will showcase primate intelligence and adaptations.

Plus, don’t forget to handfeed our rainbow lorikeets pots of nectar; take a ride on the land train or vintage chairlift; hunt out ghosts in the 11th century Dudley Castle and watch birds of prey flying in the courtyard as well as spotting new arrivals including Carko the red panda and our adorable baby sloth.

We hope you’ll come and hang with us!
