We’re highlighting the world’s biggest wildlife survey this weekend with the Big Garden Birdwatch.
DZG visitors can find out more about the annual RSPB count on Saturday and Sunday, as we welcome representatives on site who’ll be running bird-themed activities and encouraging members of the public to survey feathered friends in their own gardens at home.
DZG Conservation Officer, Chris Leeson, pictured right, said: “We’re looking forward to helping the RSPB publicise this great initiative, which helps provides a vital snapshot of our native bird population.
“We hope many of our weekend visitors visit the stand by the Tropical Birdhouse and find out more about the free survey and ways you can encourage birds into your gardens.”
- The Big Garden Birdwatch runs from Saturday until Monday.
- Participants are encouraged to count the birds visiting their garden over a one-hour period.
- Last year around 500,000 people took part in the birdwatch.
