Summer adventures!
Things are hotting up at DZC this summer!
Come and discover more about those species who love the hot weather as we focus on a different hot climate native animal each week of the school holiday.
From Monday 21st July – Sunday 31st August, visitors can join in fun themed activities and games as we shine the spotlight on six specific species, including our new painted dog pack, who are native to Africa and new Asian lioness, Kirana.
Discover the threats these animals face in the wild and hear about the conservation work we’re doing to help boost their survival.
Week 1 – Giraffes
Week 2 – Cassowary
Week 3 – Lions
Week 4 – Painted Dogs
Week 5 – Orangutans
Week 6 – Meerkats
Throughout the six-weeks visitors can also take part in craft activities in the Discovery Centre as well as listening to informative talks about a number of other exotic species, during our packed daily Presenter-led talks programme.
With more than 150 incredible species living around the 40-acre site, there’s plenty to see this summer, including baby bush dogs and wolverines.
Take a ride on the land train; soar into the sky on the chairlift; explore the 11th century castle; build a sandcastle on ‘ow bin ya sands’ and make some amazing memories!
