Storm Doris prompts DZG closure

As Storm Doris sweeps the country, Dudley Zoological Gardens has taken the decision to remain closed today.

Zoo Manager Matt Lewis, said: “We’ve been closely monitoring the weather overnight and with high wind speeds expected over the next few hours we’ve taken the decision to remain closed today for animal and public safety.

“Our exotic animal collection will be kept in their internal dens and we’ll be keeping a close eye on the trees around the 40-acre ancient wooded site.

“We’re sorry for any inconvenience and aim to re-open as normal tomorrow, but please keep an eye on the zoo’s website and social media sites for any further updates.”
