DZG’s visitors have extra time to see their favourite animals following the start of our summer opening hours.
From today visitors can gain entry from 10am until 4pm, with the 40-acre site closing 90 minutes later.
Curator Matt Lewis, said: “Not only do the summer opening hours allow the animals to play outside for longer, but it also enables the keepers to have more time to carry out their daily jobs.
“We tend to leave the painting and decorating chores until this time of year when the weather is drier and staff have longer to complete it before it gets dark.”
The longer opening hours will remain in place until September, when last admission will revert to 3pm.
Matt added: “We review closing times daily and if the weather is glorious and we have a lot of people on site at the end of the day then we will stay open for as long as necessary so that visitors don’t miss out on their favourites.”
