When Lesley Dalton became a keeper for the day, not only was she blown away by meeting our animals, but also DZG’s keepers.
Lesley, from Bristol, was treated to the experience by husband, Steve for Christmas, when she spent the day working with DZG staff to help care for some of the 200 species we have here on site.
Lesley, said: “I had an absolutely fantastic day and came home exhilarated from the experience.
“Getting the opportunity to meet so many animals was brilliant, but also getting the chance to meet your keepers as well really made the day for me.
“Their knowledge and enthusiasm was overwhelming and they could answer every single question I asked them and more!”
During her day, Lesley worked with ungulates, big cats, primates and birds.
She added: “It’s really difficult to choose my favourite bit, as there were so many to choose from, but I think seeing the chimps sign and feeding the tiger and hearing her purr were highlights, as well as seeing the baby snow leopard cub, who was gorgeous.”
