There is still time to sign up for next month’s Barnardo’s Big Toddle at DZG.
The sponsored short walk around Dudley Castle courtyard is taking place on Wednesday, June 12 and Thursday 13, with nurseries, childminders, playgrounds and families from across the Midlands encouraged to take part.
This year the event’s theme is nursery rhymes and fairy tales, with all participants invited to dress as their favourite character.
Nursery children from Peters Hill Primary School in Amblecote got into the spirit of the occasion when they launched the 2013 Toddle in the castle courtyard dressed as princesses, a pirate, a king, a knight and Peter Pan.
Peters Hill Primary School Nursery Keyworker, Christine Southall, said: “We’ve been taking part in the Barnardo’s Big Toddle for over 10 years.
“It’s a great day out and the children and parents all love taking part in the toddle and raising money for such a fantastic cause.
“We bring a picnic and go see the animals afterwards so make a fun day out of it and we always make sure we all dress up in fancy dress to match the theme.”
Entry is free for toddlers up to five and £5 for adults and children over five.
Barnardo’s Midland fundraiser, Pauline Clark, said: “The Barnardo’s Toddle really is a simple and fun way for young children to play a major role in helping us turn lives around.
“DZG is an ideal venue because children and families can enjoy the rides and zoo after they’ve finished the toddle.”
