We’re saying another farewell this week as Trainee Keeper, Shaun Crompton, has left DZG after six years.
Shaun started with us as a volunteer, working in the Discovery Centre as well as with the Customer Services team, before joining the zoo’s animal keeper training scheme.
During his time at DZG Shaun worked with many of the site’s varied species, but found a passion for primates particularly our seven chimpanzees and on his last day treated the girls to a jam sandwich breakfast as a special goodbye feast!
Shaun said: “I’ve enjoyed my time at DZG and will miss working with the chimps and Lemur Wood boys but I couldn’t leave without treating the girls, so they each enjoyed sugar-free cherry jam on wholemeal bread, which they wolfed down!”
Shaun will be joining the team at Monkey World Ape Rescue in Dorset.
Good luck, Shaun!
