Sam’s nervous wait!

Senior Keeper, Sam Grove, has a nervous few weeks wait ahead for end of year exam results.

Sam, pictured above, joined 13 other students from Drayton Manor, Twycross Zoo, Woburn Safari Park and West Midlands Safari Park to sit their Diploma in the Management of Zoo and Aquarium Animals (DMZAA) exams.

DZG Registrar and Research Co-ordinator, Dr David Beeston, who is also the Regional Co-ordinator for the course, said: “The exam consists of two papers, both two hours long which tests them on everything they’ve studied over the last 12 months, including conservation, research and animal health and welfare.

“It is a demanding course to be on as they have ten units to complete as well as completing their daily animal care duties.

“Hopefully Sam and the rest of the students will have achieved the passes needed to qualify for the next year of the course.”
