A familiar face, who has spent the last five years at Dudley Zoo, has landed an exciting new role with us.
Sally Skinner is now DZG’s Outreach Activities Co-ordinator and will be our face in the community, visiting schools, libraries and events with our mobile roadshow!
Sally, aged 41, said: “This is a great opportunity to go out and tell people about the wonderful work of the zoo.
“I’m only a few weeks into the new role, but I’m enjoying it. It seems like the perfect job for me, as I can talk about the zoo all day, every day, which I quite often do!”
Sally’s new role involves her sourcing events and hitting the road with small critters from the Discovery Centre, her face painting kit and events leaflets and seasonal offers.
And Sally is well experienced for the job, after starting as a Discovery Centre volunteer in 2011 before gaining paid employment with the Customer Services team a year later. She’s been out on outreach events, hosted birthday parties, been on chairlift duty, painted faces and was the site’s first female train driver!
And if that didn’t keep her busy enough, during her spare time Sally also volunteered as a keeper, working with the site’s farm animals, primates and birds.
Sally added: “It’s nice to finally settle into a role and having experience of quite a few sections across the zoo also means I’m able to answer most questions while I’m out and about!”
Marketing Manager, Andrea Hales, said: “We’re delighted to have Sally join the team as she’s a great ambassador for DZG.”
