What a fabulous day we had last Thursday as we marked the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with 4,800 guests, the best daily figures we’ve recorded since 2019!
Throughout the additional Bank Holiday (June 2) visitors took part in activities in the bunting-clad castle courtyard, including Dippy the clown, small animal encounters and a royal selfie props booth complete with a golden throne.
DZC Finance Manager, Jonathan Ashfield, said: “It was wonderful to welcome so many families to Dudley Zoo and Castle as we joined the nation in celebrating the Queen’s 70-year reign.
“We haven’t recorded such daily visitor numbers since February 2019 and we even extended our opening hours due to the crowds. Thank you to everyone who supported us.”
During the day we also raised an additional £564 from sales of nectar pots in Lorikeet Lookout and £136 through patriotic face painting, which will go towards our ongoing fundraising for animal conservation projects.
