If you listen very carefully at the red panda enclosure you may soon hear the pitter patter of tiny paws!
Keepers have spotted a new baby in one of the nesting boxes which will be the third for mum, Yasmin, and dad, Yang.
However, visitors will have to wait a little longer to catch a glimpse of the new arrival as red panda babies usually stay hidden away with mum for at least three months before making their public debut.
Ungulates Team Leader, Jay Haywood, said: “As yet we’ve only managed to spot the very top of baby’s ears. Red pandas are born completely grey and develop their stunning red colouring during the 90 days, so we’re just as eager to see it as our visitors.”

Mum’s the word
Here’s Yasmin tucking into her favourite bamboo snack before another stint in the panda ‘nursery’.
The image was taken by DZG visitor Tim Harris last Saturday.
Thanks, Tim there’s still no sign of baby in the box!
