The wooden obstacle course, located right outside the Tecton Safari Shop, is suitable for youngsters aged under 10 and includes a slide, rope bridge and balance beams.
Zoo staff are now busy adding benches to provide a seating section around the play area which is due to open within the next two weeks.
Zoo Manager Matt Lewis said: “The equipment has taken around a week to install and we are very pleased with it.
“We can now start adding the seating and water the large amount of turf which has been laid in the area.
“This should be a great addition to the zoo and provide our younger visitors with another area where they can let off steam after the excitement of getting up close to some of the world’s rarest animals.”
