Radio stars meet namesakes

Two radio presenters came face to face with their namesakes at Dudley Zoo when they challenged our staff to a general knowledge competition.

Free Radio presenters Jo and Sparky came to Dudley Zoo to play their quiz The Thousand Pound Lunch Break with our Customer Services team member Heather Pernell.

Sadly, despite an excellent performance, we didn’t win the grand by answering 10 questions correctly in a minute but Jo got to meet the lion head rabbit which was named in her honour as a birthday gift.

Earlier this month the station contacted Dudley Zoo looking for unusual gifts for the radio star and we agreed one of our new rabbits in Santa’s Grotto could be named Jo.

And while Jo was meeting her namesake, we told her co-presenter we had a hamster named Sparky.

Presenter Dorrie Hall said: “It was really good fun to meet Jo and Sparky and they loved seeing the animals who share their names.

“Unfortunately Heather didn’t win the £1,000 for the zoo funds but we had a good go and enjoyed taking part.”

And the popular radio partnership will be pleased to hear that, on Christmas Eve, Jo will be moved to her new home on the DZG Farm – which is right nextdoor to Sparky the hamster.

And Sparky already has a stocking up in his home ready for Santa – only 10 more sleeps!
