It’s official . . . DZG’s a great day out after successfully passing the 2014 Visit England Visitor Attraction Quality Scheme!
Following a secret visit by Visit England, the regulatory body for the tourism industry, DZG secured the quality assured marque for the thirteenth consecutive year.
CEO Peter Suddock, said: “DZG is a unique tourist attraction and we’re proud to be playing our part in the tourism industry as one of the leading West Midlands attractions, with visitor numbers increasing year-on-year.”
DZG staff were praised for their efficiency, knowledge, customer care and appearance in the report.
The zoo’s vast range of animals, well-maintained grounds, presentation of enclosures, daily talks, social media usage and new colourful ERDF-funded signage also scored highly, alongside the recently restored Safari gift shop and range of merchandise available.
Excerpts from the report included: “It was really pleasing to see enthusiastic, helpful and smiling staff which makes all the difference to the enjoyment of a visit.
“The attraction offers a fabulous day out for visitors of all ages. It is interesting, educational and fun and the problem is what to miss out from the huge choice.”
Mr Suddock added: “We’re delighted our continued investment in our historical buildings and animal projects across the 40-acre site is being so well received by visitors.
“Where else can you see hundreds of exotic and endangered animals, an 11th century castle and the world’s largest single collection of Tecton buildings together on one site?
“And there’s much more come including 2015’s opening of Castle Creatures, featuring live animals within medieval walls, a birthday experience for young visitors and four newly-restored Tecton structures to explore, so these are truly exciting times for DZG.”
