Presenting Heather!

DZG has welcomed a new member of staff to its presentation team in our Discovery Centre.

webheather_and_ludoHeather John, pictured left with one of our corn snakes called Ludo, had been employed in recruitment while waiting to find the right job working with animals.

So she was delighted when the vacancy at DZG arose and she got the job!

Heather graduated from Harper Adams University in Shropshire – the UK’s leading specialist provider of higher education for the agri-food chain and rural sector – gaining a degree in animal behaviour and welfare.

Heather, aged 25, has also worked at Pets at Home and Blue Planet Aquarium in Ellesmere Port.

She said: “I’m really enjoying the role and being in such close proximity with the animals, which is what I always wanted to do.

“The tigers are my favourites on site, hands down, but I also have a soft spot for the fancy rats in the education block.”

You can see Heather giving various animal talks around the site, ghost talks and presenting the Go Wild! Shows.

She is also getting involved in outreach visits to schools and will go on to work with visiting youngsters in education sessions shortly.

Welcome to the DZG team, Heather!
