Piles of pillowcases

A big thank you to everyone who has brought in bedding for our seven female chimps.

Customer Services Team Member Amy Paddock, pictured left, and our other shop staff have received piles of pillowcases, old sheets and duvet covers which our chimps will have hours of fun with.

DZG launched its appeal for unwanted bed linen after creative chimp Banika, pictured above, came up with lots of uses for an old pillowcase.

With just one pillowcase she made a footwarmer, a sleeping bag and a hiding place.

Head of Lower Primates Nicola Wright said all seven chimps, Mandy, Fanny, Barbie, Malaika, Binti, Mali and Banika, loved playing with old sheets and pillowcases.

She said: “We are so grateful to everyone for thinking about our chimps when they were getting rid of any old linen.

“Our chimps love getting inside pillowcases and tearing them up as well as using them to build nests and play tug of war with the keepers.”

Thanks for thinking about us at DZG!
