Picnic for princesses

Under-fives had fun in the sunshine at DZG’s Princes and Princesses Picnic.

DZG-Princesses-webThe annual two-day event saw Peppa Pig and friends entertaining thousands of youngsters in the courtyard of the 11th century Dudley Castle, alongside clowns, face painters and balloon artists.   Marketing Manager, Julia Lockett, said: “We had more than three thousand children, parents and nursery group leaders on site over the two days and were really lucky with the weather.   “The teachers’ action meant that Thursday (June 30) was extremely busy with lots of extra mums and dads and children visiting the zoo and taking the opportunity to join the picnic fun.”   Crafts, quizzes and a bouncy castle kept the little ones happy while staff from Venue Cuisine, in Dudley, offered sweet making and cake decorating workshops.   CAPTION: Sweet success: for six-year-old Sahida Mahad, of St Benedicts Early Learning Group,  as she makes her first marzipan fruit, helped by DZG’s Lesley Lewis and chef Surantha Kumara of Venue Cuisine.
