DZG CEO Peter Suddock joined representatives at the inaugural meeting of the newly-formed Tourism Council to focus on three key concerns within the industry.
These included improving the perception of tourism across government departments and in the public eye; improving skill base and training, and looking at how best to support the industry across the UK. Three working groups will report on their findings at the council’s autumn meeting. Mr Suddock said: “The industry has been working closely with government for many years, and it is hoped that this body will build on that relationship and help improve and share dialogue across a range of departments, ultimately enabling this important sector to grow and provide greater employment opportunities across the UK.” He added: “We are the only zoo and the sole Midlands business to be represented alongside the corporate giants, and absolutely delighted to have our say.” Fellow members include VisitBritain, VisitEngland and the British Hospitality Association along with Hilton Worldwide, Whitbread Hotels and Restaurants, InterContinental Hotels Group, easyjet, John Lewis, Google, Eurostar and Expedia. https://www.dudleyzoo.org.uk/news/dzg-ceo-joins-tourism-council-board
