Sixty six penguins witnessed a poolside proposal when Dan Pearson dropped to his knee and asked girlfriend Claire Tedstone to marry him!
Twenty-eight-year-old Dan and Claire, 29, of Long Lane, Halesowen are long-standing DZG season tickets holders and last week called in on Penguin Bay to see our colony of Humboldts. Dan, who works for a computer company, said: “During last Thursday’s visit, I asked Claire to marry me and I’m happy to say that she said yes! Claire’s favourites, the penguins, were witnesses to a very special moment!” He added: “We have been DZG season ticket holders for a number of years and in 2013 we took part in an amazing Zoo Keeper experience. “We feel very close to the zoo and love all the work that has gone into the renovation. Now DZG holds even more memories for us and we look forward to our next visit!” Claire, who works in a credit management office, said: “Dan picked the perfect place to propose. We both love Dudley Zoo and the penguins are my favourite animals. “When he pulled out the ring and got down on one knee I was so surprised I forgot to say yes I was too busy hugging him and squealing with delight! “It was the best day ever DZG will always be special to us.” DZG Head of Media and Communications, Jill Hitchman said: “We are absolutely thrilled at the news, congratulations from all at DZG, particularly the Humboldts, and we look forward to seeing Claire and Dan on site again very soon.”
