Otters won’t wake up!

Our nine Asiatic short-clawed otters aren’t happy about the dark and cold mornings – they prefer to stay snug and warm in their cosy shed.

The mischievous group have been refusing to come out of their den for breakfast, with keepers having to go into their enclosure and otters-2-webwake them all up.

Trainee keeper, Shaun Crompton (pictured), said: “Like many of us, the otters certainly don’t appreciate the cold weather at the moment and it is taking us ages to get them out in a morning.

“I had to go in, walk up to their shed at the top of the enclosure and actually rattle the door for them to come out and then they appear all sleepy-eyed looking like I’ve just woken them up!”
