Nine year-old Oliver Cobbold had the “best day ever” when he became a Little Zoo Keeper at DZG.
Oliver, who is already an adopter of snow leopard, Margaash, was treated to the animal experience for his birthday.
During his exciting day, Oliver mucked out on the farm, met our cheeky tapirs and some of our smaller critters across the 40-acre site.
Oliver, from Tipton, said: “Every child should do this as it was the best day ever!
“I enjoyed talking to the keepers and asking lots of questions and feeding the penguins was my favourite part.”
Our Little Zoo Keeper experiences are designed for children aged eight to 13 years and give youngsters the opportunity to help keepers feed, clean and learn more about the zoo’s smaller animals.
Oliver’s mum, Melissa, said: “He loved every minute of it and even the persistent drizzle couldn’t dampen his spirits.
“I would definitely purchased another keeper experience for birthday or Christmas as it’s a great way of making memories that children will look back on for the rest of their life.”
