Nicky Price from Tipton had so much fun as a DZG keeper last year that she decided to do it all over again!
The 41-year-old first took part in the unique animal experience for her 40th birthday, but enjoyed it so much that she booked to do it again 12 months later and once again had a wonderful day meeting a variety of DZG’s animals, including big cats, primates and birds.
Nicky said: I loved being with all the animals, but the ultimate part was stroking snow leopard, Nanga, while she growled at me and how special is little Makalu.
“I fell in love with Margaash on my first Keeper for a Day and have now adopted both adults.”
During her day out, Nicky shadowed DZG staff and helped prepare food and feed many of the site’s species, including two cockatiels, who keepers have hand reared after the birds were abandoned by their parents as newly hatched chicks.
Nicola added: “The birds were so cute and funny and flew around and landed on my head!
“Both of my keeper days were wonderful and all the zoo keepers were friendly, knowledgeable and fun to be with, so a very big thank you to all at DZG for creating two fantastic days.”
