Nick the babirusa, along with wallabies and kangaroos, are all benefiting from new heating in their indoor enclosures.
Keepers have fitted energy efficient heaters in the animals’ sleeping quarters, to keep them snug and warm in the cold weather.
Assistant Curator, Richard Brown, said: “When we have a really cold snap we need to have heat 24 hours a day for some animals.
“These new heaters warm the buildings quicker so we don’t have to have them on for so long and they also help keep the zoo’s heating bills down.”
