A newlywed couple took an unusual journey into married life when they boarded DZG’s land train to arrive in style at their wedding reception.
Bride Katie and groom Danny Jancso, from Tipton, travelled alongside their wedding guests up the steep winding zoo hill on DZG’s much-loved red land locomotive, to their marquee reception in the courtyard of the 11th century Dudley Castle.
DZG staff made sure the 2.5 litre diesel Dotto train was fit for the occasion by decking the train out with white ribbons and making sure the personalised registration plate Dan 4 K8′ was fitted in time for the VIP’s arrival.
DZG Head of Media and Communications, Jill Hitchman, said: “Our land train carries thousands of families every year up and down the hill, but this was the first time it had transported a bride and groom, so it was given a extra clean and polish for the occasion.”
Prior to Katie and Danny’s reception in the heart of the zoological gardens, the couple also took part in a Keeper for a Day experience where they worked alongside staff to clean and feed some of the world’s rarest animals here on site.
And photographs from their experience, which were captured by their wedding photographer, James Bastable, were dotted around the venue for all their guests to admire!
Photographer James, who captured the happy couple’s train ride, said: “Katie and Danny had a fantastic day. The pictures look great as the zoo and castle was the perfect backdrop for their big day.”
