Snow leopard Nanga was showered with sweet-smelling gifts for her 6th birthday today.
DZG Keepers added treats as well as different perfumes and herbs to her enclosure to stimulate the senses of the popular mum, pictured right, on her special day.
Section Leader Jay Haywood said: Nanga is a fantastic mum to one-year-old Makalu but can be quite feisty too.
She is very popular with our visitors and we wanted to give her lots of extra attention on her birthday.
Big cats have a great sense of smell and this enrichment with scents and herbs will release happy hormones which Nanga will display by rolling around, playing and head rubbing.
DZG keepers regularly use different scents on the sites lions, tigers, lynx and snow leopards as enrichment, including herbs, spices, perfume, body sprays, stuffed sacks, plastic barrels and animal skins, which all encourage natural hunting, tracking and foraging behaviour.
Many happy returns of the day, Nanga!
