Muriel adopts lizard – seven decades after first visit

An octogenarian who visited DZG on its opening day in 1937 has achieved another ‘first’ by adopting a newly-arrived bearded dragon.

Animal crazy Muriel Thatcher, aged 84, from Wednesfield, Wolverhampton, has adopted many of the site’s collection during the last 74 years but is the first adopter to take on Edmund, the colourful lizard.
