Squirrel monkey, Mrs Elvis, has found a new game to satisfy her inquisitive nature.
The dominant small primate has developed a passion for a special boomer ball, an enrichment toy filled with tasty treats including mealworms and locusts.
Keeper Laura Robbins, explained: “Mrs Elvis is a very cheeky and inquisitive monkey who loves to play and interact with the public.
“She is one of the dominant females in the nine-strong group and when she spotted the shiny pink ball she decided she would be the first to play with it.
“She plays for half an hour at a time, then she lets the others have a go!”
The pink ball is well suited to the group – all social interactions are dominated by females who work together to rear their babies as a communal effort, shunning any male involvement with the youngsters.
