Four weeks since the sudden death of giraffe, Mia, we’re delighted that many of her adopters have swapped their support for Kito instead.
Following the 11 year-old’s death due to a fractured leg, our marketing team contacted all her adopters to offer them an animal replacement of their choice, but were delighted to discover many of them wanted to keep it in the family and adopt her 23 month-old offspring in her place.
DZG Marketing Manager, Andrea Hales, said: “Mia was a very popular giraffe with visitors and her adopter numbers were testament to that, so it’s lovely that her supporters wanted to adopt Kito in her place as a fitting legacy.”
Adoption packages help support the continuing work of the zoo with generated funds purchasing animal bedding, toys, treats as well as funding food bills, heating and health checks.
Kito came a close runner-up in the DZG 2015 most adopted list, with snow leopard, Makalu coming out on top.
