More than 3,000 DZG season ticket holders will be getting their hands on new personalised membership cards this New Year.
The new credit card-style passes will be issued over the next few weeks and will have a photo of the cardholder on the back.
Visitors will just have to get the new membership card scanned as they enter, which will speed up the admission process.
The hi-tech system has been developed over the last six months and will also allow the zoo team to record how often people visit and what they are most interested in.
Alongside the new card scheme, members are also being asked to take part in a survey to collect feedback on their visits and help boost their visitor experiences in the future.
DZG Chief Executive Peter Suddock said: “The new cards not only look great they will be more convenient for people as individuals will each have their own cards with their pictures on.
“We always strive to make everyone’s visit the best it can be so speeding up the entry process and getting members’ thoughts on what we offer will only help us build on the successes we have already achieved.”
One of the first to receive her personalised membership card was DZG regular Kathryn Willett, of Dudley.
Keen photographer Kathryn, who visits the zoo two or three times a week, has been a season ticket holder for three years.
“I work nights at Tesco just down the road so the zoo is my chill zone. It’s amazing to have such wonderful animals on the doorstep. To be honest tigers are a bit of an obsession of mine.
“I became a member when Sumatran tigress Daseep arrived and live just opposite the zoo. I was planning on moving closer to family in Kidderminster but I’ve decided to stay now because of the zoo.”
And Kathryn’s regular visits have helped her build up a collection of amazing photographs including a stunning shot of Daseep which made this month’s page of the DZG calendar.
