Brazilian tapir, Meena, helped out with Alexia Chapman’s half term school challenge when she became a Little Zoo Keeper for a Day at DZG.
Alexia, aged 11, was tasked by her Kingswinford primary school to be photographed reading a book in a unique way during the week-long holiday.
And Alexia used her keeper day as an ideal opportunity to take some snaps as she snuggled in the straw with our three tapirs, Meena, Chico and baby Luna.
Alexia took part in the half-day animal experience with cousins Ben and Isobel Phillpott, aged 12 and ten, from Smethwick.
As part of their day the trio helped muck out our animals down on the farm, as well as feeding our Humboldt penguins and meerkats and met a variety of small animals from the Discovery Centre.
Alexia’s mum, Claudine, said: “It was an absolutely fantastic, fact-filled day, with the most knowledgeable guide who was a credit to the zoo.
“I will definitely be recommending the little zoo keeper package to school mums!”
