DZG’s chimpanzee, Mali, enjoyed the extra hour in bed this morning to read her new book!
With the clocks going back 60 minutes at 2am, to signal the end of British Summer Time, the 22 year-old was able to snuggle down in her cosy blanket with her colourful wildlife book for that bit longer, until keepers arrived on site to wake the seven girls for breakfast.
Section Leader, Nicola Wright, said: “We gave the chimps an old book which was full of animal illustrations as enrichment, but it was Mali that was particularly taken with it.
“She was really interested in the butterfly section and spent ages curled up on her bedding turning the pages to look at the pictures and even had the book the right way up.”
And following a busy half term, where we welcomed thousands of visitors for our Hallowe’en en Freak Week, the chimp girls appreciated the lie-in!
