Our group of Sulawesi crested macaques are enjoying the great outdoors and are busy exploring their new hillside bank.
Now they’re settled into their brand new enclosure at the bottom of the zoo site after relocating back in March, keepers have given them access to the outdoor paddock and they’re loving their new surroundings – particularly watching zoo visitors soar over their heads on the site’s vintage chairlift!
Senior Keeper Jodie Dryden, said: “The macaques are really enjoying exploring the bank, especially the natural logs and branches which they’re picking bugs and grubs out of.
“They’ve all been climbing the trees on the bank, but Stan and Steve, the juvenile boys, love them! We’ve spotted Steve on occasions sitting at the top looking out over everything.”
As part of their new accommodation, which features an indoor viewing area for visitors, keepers have also built an outdoor extension for the primates, which they have continual access to throughout the day.
