Dudley Zoo was delighted to welcome 50 primate keepers from across Europe for the first ever macaque species workshop.
The successful BIAZA (British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums) Macaque Workshop was led by our Senior Primate Keeper Jodie Dryden with the help of her Lower Primate colleagues.
Jodie, also Co-Chair of the BIAZA Primate Subgroup, organised the one-day event to bring together speakers from across Europe to share up to date information on in-situ and ex-situ conservation projects and all aspects of macaque husbandry.
Held in the Queen Mary Restaurant earlier this week, talks covered macaques diets, health, training, enclosure design as well as an update from studbook keepers.
Jodie said: “Everyone felt it was a successful event and it was wonderful for us all to have the opportunity to network with keepers from different zoos who are all looking after the same species.
“It was a very informative and enjoyable day and great to share different ideas and ways of working with these wonderful creatures.”
