It’s Love Your Zoo week and DZG is all set for a week you’ll love.
We’ve got a heart trail with the chance to win an animal adoption pack, colouring fun and a packed programme of animal talks and feeds.
Love Your Zoo week, which starts today and runs until Saturday May 30, is run by the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums (BIAZA).
Its aim is to encourage people to visit their local BIAZA zoos, aquariums and wildlife centres and not only have a fun day out, but also learn just how much they do for conservation, education and research.
Our heart trail involves visitors having to scour our 40-acre site in search of eight hidden hearts in a bid to win an animal adoption of their favourite DZG creature.
There will also be colouring activities for youngsters in the Farm Barn and Discovery Centre and heart-shaped animal balloons, shown right held by retail supervisor Lucy Musgrove, are available in the Safari Shop.
And the education block will be making a ‘love wall’ where keepers and visitors can write messages on individual hearts which will be added to our Love DZG display.
Presenter Dorrie Hall said: “We’ll be asking keepers to write down why they love working here and hope visitors will also put their thoughts down on heart-shaped notes so we can put together a Love Your Zoo wall display throughout the week.”

Zoo Director, Derek Grove, said: “We are thrilled to be taking part in BIAZA’s Love Your Zoo campaign once again this year and are looking forward to showing everyone why they should love visiting us and teaching them about the important work we do for wildlife.”
More than 50 zoos, aquariums and wildlife centres across the UK will also be taking part in the campaign.
