As 2016 draws to a close, we take a look back at the year…
Zoo Director Derek Grove, said: “We have come to the end of a very busy year; our staff have worked incredibly hard to achieve a huge amount of growth and progress.
“Visitor attendance rose by ten per cent, achieving a 30 year high of more than 300,000 visitors being welcomed to the zoo and over the past year we have undertaken an unprecedented amount of animal exhibit refurbishment projects which have seen the arrival of new species, vacant areas have been reused and improvements have been carried out to animal facilities.
“We’ve also launched a new website and seen a growth in our social media, as well as redeveloping our Outreach programme.
“From everyone at DZG I’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who have helped us achieve such a brilliant year and we look forward to celebrating a successful 2017 together.”
