DZG helped Kent visitor, Liam Sydall provide a little animal magic for his unsuspecting partner.
Liam, aged 21, asked staff if he could display a special message in the viewing panel at the tapir enclosure for partner, Luke Rivett to see during their first visit to DZG.
Head of Media and Communications, Jill Hitchman, said: “We made sure Liam’s sign was positioned so Luke wouldn’t miss it as he went to visit his favourite animal and it worked a treat!”
Liam and 22-year-old Luke met while studying animal care and both enjoy visiting zoos around the country. They visited DZG for the first time following a weekend in Birmingham.
Liam, said: “We’ve been through a lot this year and I felt like I owed him something special to lift his spirits and thank him for being there for me for so long. I’m so grateful for DZG’s help.”
Luke said: “I couldn’t believe it when I saw my name in the viewing panel and, of course, my answer was yes. It was a lovely surprise and I didn’t suspect a thing as I was so enjoying my day at DZG.
“It’s our first visit and we love it.”
