Leanne Murrell’s friends knew the perfect present for her 30th birthday so they clubbed together to buy her a DZG Keeper For the Day!
And Leanne and her boyfriend, Alex Mathers, from Gloucester, had a fabulous day as they shadowed staff and helped feed and meet some of the 200 species we have on site.
Leanne, said: “My favourite parts of the day were the giraffes and I loved feeding the snow leopards, while Alex’s favourites were the monkeys and orang utans.
“Meeting the penguins was also hilarious as they were so funny and kept constantly pecking at our feet for attention.
“It was great hearing all about the history of the zoo from the keepers and we couldn’t believe there was actually a killer whale there at one time.
“I would definitely recommend the experience and it’s great knowing that all the money raised through the sales of these keeper days helps generate money for improved enclosures and animal care.”
