Animal crazy Surrey couple, Tom Monk and Tamsin Lambert, turned keepers for the day when they joined DZG’s Zoo Crew.
Tom and Tamsin, of Tadworth, were treated to the experience as a joint 30th birthday present from Tamsin’s sister.
Tamsin said: “We really loved every minute of the day, but feeding the lions was incredible.
“To be able to get so close to such a beautiful and powerful animal was something we will never forget.”
She added: “It was a truly amazing, once-in-a-lifetime experience!
“It was so much fun from start to finish, getting up close and personal with the friendly lemurs and giraffes, meeting the tapirs and feeding the hungry penguins and sea lions made a very memorable birthday gift.
“The keepers were excellent too, very knowledgeable with fascinating stories to share.
“I would recommend this day out to everyone.”
Rachel Pippard, from Yeovil, in Somerset, joined DZG’s Zoo Crew as part of her Keeper For a Day experience.
Twenty-five-year-old Rachel was treated to the experience as a birthday present and worked with a whole range of exotic and endangered animals.
She said: “It was a really enjoyable and interesting day which gave me the opportunity to get close to a large variety of animals whilst in the company of very knowledgeable and enthusiastic keepers.”
